Indian Hills Residence – Net Zero Home, Solar Thermal, Variable Volume Heat Recovery, Radiant heat, and Air Coils

Mechanical design for a new net zero energy residence.  Systems include solar thermal heating (domestic hot water, space heat), interface with PV solar, energy recovery, variable speed main fan system, radiant floor heating, sun-space heat transfer.  Low-energy fan system distributes solar heat and heat transferred from the sun space through variable volume, multiple zone system.  Selected areas have radiant floor heat.  Spread sheet-based energy analyses used to optimize thermal mass (double 5/8 drywall) and solar hot water storage.  Computer modeling of solar thermal.  Solar thermal system uses evacuated tube solar collectors for high efficiency.  Detailed computerized load calculations optimize heat distribution.
